Teaching Beyond Content

I have felt for a long time and as this program has taught us, teaching goes much deeper than content.  I  mentioned earlier a book I bought called "Beyond the Blues".  I love this book.  I think every teacher should have self esteem building and coping with anxiety and depression lessons.  These could be bell ringers or thrown in every now and then.  However you do it I think it's very important to educate kids on these things.  In my job with OGC I just see so many kids with a lack of coping skills  and self esteem.  It's not our responsibility but at the same time if they aren't getting educated at home and we are with them seven hours a day five days a week and we are teachers.....we should teach them these things!  Just a thought!  But, as I was saying I think every teacher should have a copy of "Beyond the Blues".  It has activities, exercises, and worksheets that are great!  I purchased the book on Amazon.com for only eight bucks!  It's well worth it!
